I'm hyping this step intentionally because this is often the most overlooked step and it is so ridiculously easy that it needs to be hyped. Are ya' ready?

So you have 10 days of vacation that starts on Friday after work and you want to fly to Orlando to see the mouse? Did you know that making tiny little changes in the date and time of your flight can save you a boatload of money on airfare? It's simple, it's true, but unfortunately it's also almost always overlooked. Most travelers would simply look at a Saturday - Saturday flight leaving early in the morning on the first Saturday and taking a late flight on the way back home. Makes sense right? Get there early on Saturday morning and come home late Saturday evening a week later...

A year ago, I would have been reminding you of some basic rules - rules like the best day of the week to fly is Wednesday. I might have even suggested you test this phenomena by starting your airfare search with a Wednesday departure and then changing that departure day to any other day. You would have made some changes to the date and time yourself, done some sorting by price, and found a decent deal.

But thanks to some major changes in the way airfare search engines have developed, the process of being flexible is now automated too! Bookmark this article, then use the Kayak search engine(my favorite) and check this out. Enter in the dates you would like to travel (yes,  go ahead and enter that Saturday to Saturday you really want), then press search.

Now look at the calendar style box that just appeared on your right and you'll see all kinds of airfare prices based on day and time of departure. Pick the lowest one and you've used the new Kayak automation to save plenty!!
