I watched Lady Gaga arrive on the red carpet this afternoon and was a little bit horrified by her, er... Halloween costume. I think she is one of the most talented female artists on the scene today, but why does she feel the need to come across as such a weirdo?
Her real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, nowadays known as Lady Gaga, and she first arrived on the music scene at the age of nineteen. Debuting with her album 'The Fame' back in August 2008 she received rave reviews and even hit the number one position in various countries. In the US, Lady Gaga rose to the number position in Billboard Top Electronic Album Charts.
The album included some great tunes like 'Just Dance', 'Paparazzi', 'Love game', and 'Poker Face'. 'Just dance' and 'Poker Face' became major international hits and the 'Just Dance' track was even nominated for a Grammy in the Best Dance Recording category.
Lady Gaga was nominated for nine MTV Video Music Awards in 2009 including Video of the year, Best Pop Video, Best New Artist, Best Female Video and more. Out of those nominations, Lady Gaga won the award for Best New Artist, Best Art Direction, and Best Special Effects. Later that year, she received a Rising Star of 2009 Award from Billboard Magazine.

There was a great rumour on the net regarding Lady
GaGa today that she met with a car accident. It is totally rumour. Somehow she also getting publicity by this way also apart from her costumes.
The oprah performance was awesome! I loved that!
I haven't seen her Oprah performance, but I'd love to see it. She dresses weird, but that is to be expected. It wouldn't be her otherwise!
There is one defining answer for Lady Gaga, and that is, it's all about marketing. Marketing is what's important at the end of the day if you think of it. Granted, she's a very talented woman and that only helps her that much more. But it's about marketing. Do you think we'd likely be talking about Lady Gaga if she dressed normal? Probably not. We talk about her because she is different, and because she is weird. Marilyn Manson is popular for the same reason. Kiss was not a very good band musically, but in their case it was ALL about the image. They wore makeup, they acted weird, one had a very long tongue and spit blood. This was marketing and it continues to sell the Kiss brand to this day.
Lady Gaga probably could have done well as herself. As Lady Gaga she has done EXTREMELY well for herself.
I like some of her music but I don't watch her videos because when I do, I feel like I just lost 10 more brain cells LOL.

Yes, she is pretty strange - maybe she should tone it down just a little. I was sad to hear her swearing lately on one of her videos, so that was disappointing. Thanks for the info. Reminds me of Madonna in her early years although she has her beat in weird outfits.
I don't necesssarily see her as fake but rather the most versatile artist-entrepreneur of 2010. Anyone who made $62 million this year,have over 10 million fans on facebook and sold over 12 million copies of their debut album deserves recognition.

I guess it is quite a good marketing ploy. Everyone wants to see what outfit she will come up with next. Being an artist you have to be creative, and she certainly has that covered. In some of her video clips she has quite a few different outfits, keeps you watching, even if you don't like her music.
